Message from the Director, CR/Agoal Rugby Academy

The academy which was formed 6 years ago with less than 20 players has grown over the years and today consist of over 125 children training under it’s wings. The academy has received an invitation to participate at the Bangkok Tens tournament to be held in February 2010 and would be embarking on their second overseas assignment since its inception.

Junior Rugby is all about enjoyment, participation and building friendships among young players, where they could learn development skills step by step. Rugby is a very exciting, free flowing game and is valued as a sport for men and women, boys and girls. It builds teamwork, understanding, cooperation and respect for fellow players.

I must thank all players in the Academy for the passion and commitment towards the sport which prompted me in accepting the invitation and also the dedication and hard work put in by the coaches for sacrificing their valuable time, parents for their un stinted support in raising the funds and helping me with the entailed logistical arrangements.

A special thank you is extended to the sponsors and well-wishers for their generous contribution in making this tour a reality. A special word of appreciation to the President of C.R. & F.C. Mr. Jehan CanagaRetna and his Committee for releasing the Club grounds for training purposes and all the encouragement given in taking the Academy to the next level.

I wish all players good luck and an enjoyable tour.

Dilroy Fernando
